Been a while

Sorry it’s been so long. I just had my ACL surgery yesterday morning so I’ve been recovering. You can read all about it at http://acllisa.blogspot.com.

Rikku is at my sister’s house right now, and was yesterday too. She’s been really good lately. I mean, she still pees when she’s excited and does test her boundaries, but overall she’s much more well-behaved than she was back in June. It’ll be great to keep working with her and see how she does in the coming months. I know we’ll be getting into teething time soon.
So I’ve written all those articles, but I don’t see anyone really going to them. I’m going to try and get those going again, maybe get some more traffic because I really want to help out. I may also want to write a few more about the prong collar, leash corrections, good bones and treats, etc.

Good news: I’ve decided to write an eBook! It’s going to contain all the articles I’m writing, namely following the “my dog” series. That’s where the titles are all “my dog _____” and you fill in the blank with your problem. And then I’ll also include good tips and tricks, and things to teach your dog and whatnot. I’m really excited about it. Once I finish it, I’ll probably sell it online for maybe 10 bucks.. that seems reasonable. A lot less than all the effort, but really affordable and helpful for those who’ll need it. I just don’t know how to sell online yet :)

Well, onward to take a nap and some more pain pills!

Busy busy

Sorry that it’s been so long! I’ve been so busy with packing and everything (we’re moving at the end of the month from the apartment to a house). I’ll have to let you all know how my puppy deals with that. Her name is Rikku if I haven’t said it already. I know, it’s weird. She’s a character off Final Fantasy.. anyway lol.

So I wrote like 5 articles that I’m about to go submit to a number of articles sites.
1) Gaining your dog’s respect
2) My puppy growls at me!
3) My puppy pulls on the leash!
4) Teach your dog to crate or kennel on command
5) How to properly praise and reward your dog
Those are the articles. I’ve learned most of all that information from two sources: experience, and the Dog Problems website that I mentionned in an earlier post. I can’t credit that site enough. The ebook they’ve got is priceless, truly, especially if your dog really needs some work on people manners!

I’m going to go post, and then keep packing. Rikku has been growling a lot less, she knows “kennel” now. She knows about 25 words or phrases, and she’s only a little over 3 months old :) BLAM!

Puppy Growling At Me!

Hey guys.

So Puppy has been pretty good lately. She normally doesn’t require too much exercise or anything, and she recovered just fine from her spay.

But she still growls at me a lot. She is a very alpha-typical puppy. Now, that website I linked a while back helps with that some. But what I’ve found is that she needs to constantly be put in her place, just because of her peronality. Whenever she growls, I take her, put her on her back, and stand over her on all fours. If she keeps doing it, I pick her up and hold her upside down in the air. She doesn’t like that, and SQUIRMS! But let her squirm. Let her stay there until she relaxes. Then put her down. Puppy growls if I interrupt her playing or grab her in a way she doesn’t like. Well, after I’ve reprimanded her, I grab her that same way or interrupt her to see if she growls again. That way, if she doesn’t, I can praise her like crazy.

I learned that from that dogproblems site I linked, but also from just trial and error from the puppy. I’m finding more and more that it just takes a lot of this trial and error.
